Curbside Recycling

To receive Knoxville curbside recycling service by Waste Connections of Tennessee, residents living within the city limits must sign up online.Approved residents will receive a 95 Gallon (Brown / Gray) recycling cart and a bi-weekly pickup schedule (see below). Knoxville recycling carts need to be placed at the curb no later than 7:00am on your day of service.The City of Knoxville does not charge approved residents for this service.

Any non-hazardous waste material which, because of its physical, chemical, or biological characteristics, requires special handling procedures or poses an unusual threat to the environment, equipment, and property or the public's health, welfare, and safety.

• Aerosol Cans (empty or full)
• Scrap Metal (lawn mower blades, brake drums, etc.)
• Mylar (i.e., shiny silver plastic) things such as potato chip bags or a foil bag to keep items cold / hot.
• Aluminum Foil or Pie Plates
• Plastic Containers that hold hazardous waste such as pesticides / herbicides, motor oil, and antifreeze bottles.
• Window glass, broken windshields, light bulbs, or any type of porcelain or pottery material such as plates or pots, carbon paper, and styrofoam.
• Milk cartons and food and orange juice containers made of paper and coated with a chemical material inside or outside.
• No Medical Waste. Insulin sharps or sharps containers are NOT accepted either inside plastic bottles or by themselves. These items can be disposed of in your household trash inside plastic bottles or through a proper disposal management company.
