As the owners and descendants of United Pacific Waste (UPW), also previously known as Zakaroff Recycling Services, have been involved in solid waste and recycling since 1913. Over 100 years later our legacy is still thriving. 

Our beginnings lifted us from collecting waste in horse drawn wagons to the rationing and recycling efforts of the 1940’s. We continued to broaden our waste diversion efforts by salvaging food waste and reusing it as animal feed. The housing boom of the 1950’s catapulted us into residential curbside collection and swept us into the modernized high rise era of Downtown Los Angeles. As Zakaroff Recycling Services we broke new ground by introducing landmark recycling programs into office towers and expanded our reclamation strategies into intricate cities such as West Hollywood and other established communities. 

Today, our mission remains the same. UPW is now poised to become one of the most intrepid and proven solid waste haulers in Southern California. We continue to be family owned and operated with commercial service routes covering all of Los Angeles and Orange County. Servicing major accounts throughout the sprawling entertainment and business communities of Los Angeles, and now the historic city of Huntington Park. UPW continues to be the reliable source for all your solid waste and recycling needs.
