Scrap Battery Disposal and Recycling in Cincinnati, OH

As battery specialists, our services include the removal and disposition of all types of scrap lead-acid batteries. We have the personnel and facilities to deal with conventional wet or sealed units. Routinely we both install and de-install batteries for back up power systems.Typically, lead-acid batteries are recycled into pure lead and lead alloys which are sold to battery manufacturers and other lead users.A summary of the recycling process is as follows: New Line scrap batteries are fed into an automated battery wrecker, which crushes the batteries and captures the acid electrolyte. The acid is processed through a series of treatment steps, includiung neutralizations and filtration. Wastewater treatment plants perform the neutralization and filtration processes. necessary to produce water, which is dischargable into the municipal wastewater systems.

In the battery wrecker, metal-bearing material is separated from the battery casing through a heavy media gravity flotation process. The lead-bearing materials are prepared for the furnace operation, while the polypropylene plastic casing material is mechanically transported to a reclamation system where the plastic is recovered, washed and loaded directly into trailers. The plastic is sold to various plastic fabricators.Through multi-stagefurnace operations, metal-bearing materials are smelted in order to recover impure lead bullion. This bullion is refined further to high purity lead or specification lead alloys. Once the lead is refined to customer requirements, it is cast into ingots (approximately 65 pounds) or into one ton blocks, depending on customer needs.All batteries that we receive will be recycled in an environmentally safe manenr in accordance with federal, state and local regualtions.
