Our History

Taylor Garbage Service, one of the area's oldest and most prominent family owned garbage companies started in 1978. A lot has changed since then and now the third generation of our family upholds the ideals of hard work and making the world a better place. We have expanded and created jobs... we are pioneers in bringing recycling to the area and finding new and better ways to green up our little part of the world.The future we see is full of hope with innovations on the horizon and new ways to make the world a better and greener place. We, in our humble way, are still holding to the history that made us what we are and serving the community. For over 30 years Taylor Garbage Service Inc. has been your family owned trash services and hope to be for many years more.

Recycling

Taylor Garbage has made substantial investments in the recycling industry as we have evolved. Our second recycling plant was recently built in Apalachin, NY and is a state of the art Single Stream recycling plant. This has allowed us to make it possible to remove the burden of sorting from our customers and the employees a the curb. Below are just a few of the items we take.Recycling can be put out in any container as long as it is 32 gallons in size or less and says RECYCLING on it. We have stickers that say RECYCLING available at the office for no charge. We also have the Broome County recycling bins available. They can be picked up at our office. There is a one time deposit of $3.00 charged that will refunded after the bin is turned in again. We will also swap an old broken bin for a new one with no deposit required, if the bin is brought to our office in Vestal.Tioga County customers can obtain a bin by calling Ellen Pratt at Tioga County Solid Waste. Her number is 687-8274. She will set up to have the bin delivered to your house.

Commercial Pick-Up

Businesses with smaller amounts of commercial waste can sometimes get overlooked by the services of large waste hauling corporations. The specialized needs of our customers in Broome and Tioga Counties are addressed with flexible schedules and a wide range of special needs equipment. All the trucks in our fleet are equipped with GPS which allows us to record the exact time of day service was provided and respond quickly to special service requests by immediately identifying trucks in close proximity to your business. Industrial Waste

Taylor Garbage offers site specific industrial waste collection and disposal services for all types of industrial waste created as a result of construction, demolition and reconstruction projects.Our industrial collection fleet is equipped with professionally trained and experienced operators who are trained to deal with industrial waste and green disposal. This training provides us the ability to be more responsive to the demanding and changing waste disposal needs of our customers. We have equipment that is designed to meet the everyday needs of our industrial customers.

What is LEED?

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating SystemTM is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. It is a self-assessing measurement tool, based on a point system, which focuses on a number of design and construction strategies aimed at reducing a building's environmental footprint. The rating system is divided into five environmental categories with opportunities for innovation credits as well. The accumulation of credits or points, awarded for compliance with requirements defined by the rating system, determines the level of certification of that building - certified, silver, gold, or platinum. 

Residential Pick-Up

Clean, well maintained, DOT-certified trucks highlight our commitment to the residential market in Broome and Tioga Counties. Professionally trained, uniformed drivers operate with efficiency, integrity and the courtesy expected by homeowners. We provide regular safety meetings for our crews and always stress the importance of being a part of the community and going the extra step to create happy customers.At Taylor Garbage, we pride ourselves in providing personal quality collection services which in turn develops into long term relationships with our customers. Extra Waste Policy

In the event you have extra trash we require that you purchase extra weight trash stickers to cover the weight of your extra trash. We will take up to 250 extra lbs. with your normal trash on your regular trash day with the extra weight stickers on it. You can find an order card on our web site or stop by our office.

Appliance Pick-Up

In Broome or Tioga County, we're happy to pick up your unwanted appliances. We charge $15.00 for the pickup and you must call in advance to be put on the schedule. This service now includes Refrigerators, Freezers or Air Conditioners. The charge for this service $35.00. The charge for this service will be added to your monthly trash account.

Recycling: It's important

We offer Single Stream Recycling services. The customer is not required to sort their recycling fo the curb. Remember that recycling pickup is not always picked up the same day as your trash pickup. Be sure to ask us when pickup day is in your neighborhood. For more information on recycling policies, please refer to our online recycling guide.

Yard Waste

You must sign up for pickup so please call us before the first pickup you desire. You can sign up by the month or by the season. Customers will be placed on a route list so no stickers are required, however material must be out in a hard sided plastic container or garbage can. The weight of the container can be no bigger than 30 lbs. Yardwaste will not be picked up in bags or cardboard boxes. 

Here are the details:

• Yard waste season runs from the beginning of May until the end of October, and pickups are on FRIDAYS ONLY. (Yard waste WILL be picked up on all Friday holidays during the yard waste season).

• Weekly trash service does not cover the cost of yard waste pickup. The price is as follows: Monthly cost is $23.50 + tax. Good up to four cans of yard waste per week. This year for the first time we will be offering a senior discount on the yard waste. The senior rate will be $21.15 + tax per month.

• NO LEAVES will be picked up! We take grass clippings, twigs under an inch in diameter, weeds, pine cones and needles, fruits, and vegetables ONLY!

• If you have larger branches or large amounts of leaves, please contact your Highway Dept. to ask about any scheduled pickups for these items.

• They will not come back for yard waste left. Please hold for the following week. 

Taylor Roll-Off Service

Getting ready to do some remodeling or have you been putting off plans to clean out the garage? Order a residential roll off from Taylor Garbage and we'll take all the work out of your next big project.  If you're looking for a roll off agreement.

Roll Off Policies:

• A new deposit is required for each pull and return done on roll-off.
• Roll-Offs can only be set off at sites with 15 foot overhead clearance, with at least 12 feet in width, level ground and no low branches or wires.
• Items not accepted in roll-off: No recycling materials, hazardous materials, tires, refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioners , large metal items, no liquids (paint, oil, etc.), no hazardous waste, no electronic recycling such as computers, TVs, printers...ect. **Please provide specifics of materials you will be putting in the bin at the time of ordering**
• We need a 24 hour notice for any pull and returns; a move; or final pickups.
• The above deposit amount is applied when you sign up for a roll-off. We take out all hauling fees, dumping fees, & taxes, and then send a refund check or an invoice for the difference from the deposit amount.
• We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, cash, checks or money order as payment.
• There is a return check fee of $45.00 per returned check
• We discount pull charge for large jobs
• We offer a larger discount for larger jobs. Please call to enquire whether you qualify for a large job discount.
• Any balance owed will be charged to the credit card on file.
