Sugar Creek Scrap is a family-owned company which was incorporated on February 19, 1997 by David Levin after merging Dumes Salvage and Sussman Iron & Metal Company into a fluid business with a strong following of dedicated employees.
David Levin grew up in Peru, Indiana helping his father run a small but reputable scrap yard. When his father passed away, David's mother ran the daily operations making her a unique but respected figure of her time.
David eventually took over the business and in 1968 relocated to Terre Haute, Indiana purchasing his uncle's company, Dumes Salvage Company and Southwest Auto. Through time, he improved services, increased safety measures and modernized the equipment to better serve the community and employees alike.
David eventually incorporated a recycling plant as part of his commitment to protect and preserve the environment. In 1992, he acquired Sussman Iron & Metal Company which is now called Sugar Creek Scrap.
When he passed away in 1998, his wife took over the business, coincidentally following in the same tireless footsteps as her mother-in-law! This tradition of dedication, passion and determination remains a strong legacy of the Levin family. Our focus is customer service driven by integrity for which Sugar Creek Scrap was built on.
