Strategic Materials processes recycled glass and plastic for use in a wide array of products, creating efficiencies for our customers while conserving earth's natural resources.
Bassichis was eventually purchased by Allwaste Recycling and we started to grow and develop new, innovative glass recycling techniques. During this time in our history, we also acquired a number of regional glass recyclers, increasing our reach and becoming the first nationwide glass recycler. In 1994, Strategic Materials, Inc. officially spun off from Allwaste to become its own company. Over the next few decades we extended our reach and capabilities by merging with Nexcycle, a glass and plastic recycling business in Ontario, Canada. We also acquired Container Recycling Alliance, increasing our presence across the United States.Throughout our 100+ year history, we have remained focused on creating value for our customers through innovation and customer improvement.
With locations across North America, Strategic Materials is strategically positioned to provide manufacturers and suppliers a single point of contact for their recycled glass and plastic needs. At Strategic Materials, we understand that quality is critical on both ends of our process. We were the first in our industry to implement an inbound and outbound continuous measurement system to ensure a quality product.
Innovative processes support manufacturing demands
We regularly supply recycled glass to manufacturers of containers, fiberglass, highway beads, glass abrasives, decorative glass, glass fillers, and other specialty glass. We are able to meet the diverse demands and high standards of each of these industries because of our innovative processes, deep knowledge base and a culture that is focused on continuous improvement.
Our relationship with our customers doesn’t stop with the shipment. We regularly work with our customers in the technical development of their products. We want to help develop the use of recycled glass for a wide variety of products. It’s good for the environment and good for business.
Advanced technology converts wide range of glass supply
Strategic Materials accepts a variety of glass types: bottle, plate, automotive, colored, pharmaceutical, soda lime, and borosilicate. If you have glass, chances are Strategic Materials has the capability to process it and turn it into viable products.
As recycling becomes more prevalent in American households, the amount of single stream glass material has become a larger part of our supply base. Many loads require pre-sorting before processing can begin.
Strategic Materials has developed quality improvement tools to accurately assess and process incoming glass. Our goal is to process this glass as efficiently as possible while also ensuring it meets our standards and the standards of our manufacturing customers.
