Standard Iron & Metal first opened for business in 1978 and soon became one of North Birmingham’s top scrap iron and metal recyclers. From the earliest days, we concentrated our efforts on offering intense customer service combined with the best possible prices. Customers knew they could trust our fair and honest process of weighing and evaluating their materials. We built a reputation on getting customers in and out of our yard with sincere satisfaction in the payment they received.

Standard grew strong through customer satisfaction and loyalty. We have remained in our original convenient location on Vanderbilt Road, but through the years expanded office space and tripled in acreage to continue our core principles of excellent customer service, efficiency, and top pricing. We strive to improve every day and can boast that our average time, from weighed-to-paid, is less than five minutes.
