Southland Disposal Company is family owned and operated with experience in the waste and recycling industry that extends for over 100 years.
It all stared when our relatives migrated from Armenia to the Los Angeles area in the early 1900’s. The family began in the Hog Raising Business, which shortly after led to waste collection and recycling. They had to feed the hogs, so they started collecting garbage from commercial establishments. The garbage was brought to the ranch and placed into a steam boiler system which would cook the garbage to kill off germs, thus making it safe to feed the hogs with. Many independent collectors competed for business. As time went on, many great companies were bought and sold when the larger corporations started consolidating.
Today Southland Disposal is a full service waste and recycling company serving many commercial, industrial, residential, multifamily, and construction customers. We operate a fleet of collection vehicles which we service/maintain at our own maintenance facility, fabrication shop, and fueling station.
The company is still family owned and operated. Robert M. Arsenian and family along with all valued employees, take much pride in continuing to follow the traditions and history of a family of recycling pioneers.
City Terrace Recycling is our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) which we established in an effort to achieve zero waste and state mandated recycling goals. This facility is where we process waste through a combination of automated sorting line systems and human sorters.
We look forward to continuing an innovative approach to resource recovery, industry leadership and sustainable practices in the communities we serve. We are committed to safety, quality service, and providing our customers with cost effective recycling solutions that gear the next generation for zero waste.
