EMR is a global leader in metal recycling. We are privately owned with a heritage dating back to the 1940s and employ almost 3500 people operating at 150 locations around the world. Our presence in America has increased over recent years with organic growth accelerated by strategic acquisitions in key locations. We have coverage in more than 20 states with almost 2,000 employees spread across these sites. Our American operations form a crucial part of EMR's international activities.
Our core business is the recycling of scrap metal from a range of sources such as End-of-Life vehicles/consumer products, industry, construction and demolition. This results in sales of recycled commodities of around 10 million tons a year. We have extensive ferrous and non-ferrous operations worldwide and produce over 100 grades of high quality recycled materials which are taken to market by our substantial road, rail and shipping network.Supporting our core activities are a range of specialist divisions including industrial clearance, total waste management, ship breaking, servicing local government service providers and cable, copper and aluminum granulation facilities. Also, through our own and our joint venture activities we are working towards becoming a zero waste company.
You can deliver to us, or for larger volumes, we can collect from you. Prices fluctuate according to the worldwide markets, but what you can guarantee is that EMR is always highly competitive on price, compared to other metal recyclers.EMR can help you turn your waste metal into profit. We offer highly competitive prices even in low volumes. You also have to be confident that we're paying you correctly by weight, so we have accurate weighbridges with visible scales and CCTV monitoring. We also offer industrial services and total waste management services for businesses. We can adapt our service to your specific operation and compliance needs, and handle scrap metal you generate, in any quantity, from a one-off clearance project, to a waste disposal contract handling several thousand tonnes. We have a vast range of skips, bins, and containers and a fleet of vehicles for easy collection.
An ethical, financial and compliant solution
Whether you're looking for the most environmentally friendly solution for your scrap metal or the most cost-effective, you're in the right place.
To reduce our carbon footprint
The ethical driver is to increase the amount we recycle to support sustainable production and consumption and for the good of our planet and future generations. Using recycled metal instead of finite virgin ores significantly cuts down CO2 emissions, air pollution (by 80%), water pollution (by 76%) and water use (by 40%)*. Also, virgin resources are finite and will run out and landfilling waste is not a sustainable long term solution. Through recycling, EMR saves 15 million tons of CO2 every year, compared to using virgin ores. What’s more, our ongoing journey towards zero waste is growing this figure year after year.
EMR can make you more profitable
EMR can turn your scrap metal into revenue and provide a regular income stream. We can also reduce your waste disposal costs through our wider industry contacts and help you meet all relevant legislation and achieve impressive environmental standards. We will also provide the necessary paperwork to prove it.
