Since 1968, Sons of Kristoff Inc. has been providing quality rubbish removal services to the Worcester County area and beyond. However, the origins and the traditions that laid the foundation of this still family owned and operated company trail back much farther than the 1960's.George Kristoff Sr. and his wife Mae (known as our "Nee") toiled through the Great Depression working their farm by day and construction by night. George's hard work, and that of his brothers, aided in the accompishments of building the connection between the Wachusett and Quabbin Resevoirs and forming a sizable amount of acreage to start a piggery. Through the years this humble 600 acre pig farm could not seem to stop growing and eventually spawned other small ventures such as dairy, corn, pumpkins, apples, garbage removal, and major city household trash removal. The milk, corn, and food scraps were used to feed the pigs and created delicious pork from a well rounded diet. Every pork distributor on the east coast wanted Kristoff pigs. In fact, in the 1960's if you bought a Virginia ham, there was an 80% chance it came from Sterling, Massachusetts. And folks would come from miles to get a dozen of the Kristoff corn which was also sold at all the local grocery stores such as A&P and Iandoli. And remember those Table Talk pies - yes, that's right, the apples, squash, and pumpkins were grown in Kristoff soil.
George Kristoff Jr. loved the farm and family business but wanted to forge his own path. He did so by expanding the garbage and trash removal facet of the farm. Much like his father, he worked the farm by day and when that work was through, he began building a customer base for a one man, one truck rubbish removal operation. With his wife Nancy keeping the office and paperwork end of the business in order, they set out on a journey of true American entrepreneurialism.Though blood, sweat, and tears were shed many a time through the years, the Kristoff's have built a strong company, well respected with deep roots to the community. That one man, one truck operation is now 10 men and 10 trucks - the American dream in motion. The next generation of the Kristoff family - Christine, George III, Steven, and Daniel along with the the grandchildren Cassie and Mandi would love nothing more than to keep that spirit of hard work, integrity, and service alive every morning that the engines are fired up.
