At Shift our focus is simple - to provide you with the most convenient option for recycling your old electronic devices. We are a certified electronics recycler and can help you recycle items from your workplace or home. For businesses we can send our trucks to your location to pick-up loose or skidded electronic items. Most businesses in the GTA will qualify for a free pickup. Learn more.

History

In 2010, Shift Recycling was founded by Gary Diamond who wanted to create a better solution for businesses and individuals to recycle their electronics. Leaving his career as a corporate lawyer in Toronto, Gary started Shift as a one man operation collecting electronics with a rented truck. Today Shift has a team over 100 employees, operates a 50,000 square foot recycling plant and has a fleet of trucks on the road.

Certificate Of Recycling

With every pick up SHIFT Recycling provides you with a Certificate of Recycling that details exactly how many pounds of electronic waste you diverted from the landfill. Your certificate will come by mail approximately 1 week after your pick-up.

Secure Destruction

Your electronics may contain sensitive and proprietary information. To ensure this data is securely destroyed Shift can facilitate an onsite destruction service. Drives and other media are physically crushed in your office while you watch. These destroyed devices are then transported back to Shift's facility to be further shredded and melted down for recycling.

FUNDRAISERS

Shift Recycling provides the opportunity for groups and teams to host their own E-Recycling Fundraisers. Typically run as an event on a Saturday from 10am to 2pm, your organization collects unwanted -broken or obsolete - electronics for recycling. At Shift we will support you through the entire process from promoting your event to providing containers for collecting electronics. In large quantities electronics have a financial value allowing us to return fundraising dollars to your organization.

E-Recycling fundraisers do not require selling or cash handling. Simply you are asking your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors for electronics that they no longer want. Most residents in Ontario have at least one old electronic item in their home that is ready to be recycled. Rather than going door-to-door selling unnecessary products you are simply asking for electronic devices that are unwanted. In many cases your organization will be thanked for accepting unwanted electronics free of charge.

Once you have exceeded the 5,000lbs minimum quantity, a rebate of $0.10 per pound (for fundraisers in the GTA) will be provided on the overall weight of electronics collected. Shift is partnership is free of charge and we will even cover the costs of printing flyers and providing collection bins. We do ask that your organization commits to promoting the event to ensure it is successful.
