In order improve and expand the availability of our service, we have recently moved to our own new expanded Facility based in Acheson, which is on the outskirts of Edmonton, AB. The facility is easily accessible from both the Anthony Henday and Yellowhead highways.We have been involved in environmentally friendly electronic recycling since 1998. Our primary responsibility is to dismantle electronics in an efficient and environmentally safe manner. We are committed to use resources such as electricity, natural gas and fuel responsibly and economically.

Our aim is not to be the largest company in the industry but to retain our integrity by providing an efficient recycling service that suits each client's individual needs.We primarily recycle computers (CPU), Televisions (TV), Laptops and Printers, though we are able to safely recycle many other products. Our expertise in recycling allows us to offer genuine recycling solutions. We are an audited and approved recycler with the Alberta Recycling Management Authority in the Province of Alberta.

The safety of our workers and visitors to our facility is important and we ensure their safety by working to and exceeding current occupational health and safety standards and environmental regulations.Our facility is secured and monitored by an onsite / offsite 24 hour camera surveillance system.

Shanked Computer Recycling offer secure and environmentally friendly recycling and recovery of various electronic components for companies and residents across the greater Edmonton area. We also destroy sensitive information for government bodies, institutions, commercial companies and private residents.

Our goal with Shanked Computer Recycling was to create a business that made it as easy as possible to participate in environmental protection. Therefore we offer free pickup to businesses and don't charge for any electronic materials we accept. We want everyone to recycle their TVs, computers, servers, copiers and other electronics rather than let them end up in land fills.

Pick-Up Service:

Shanked Computer Recycling offers free pick-up services to companies in Edmonton and area, and free drop off of various electronic components at our Acheson facility. We also support companies in Leduc, Nisku, St. Albert, Spruce Grove and the greater Edmonton area.

Secure Data Destruction:

 An important part of our electronic recycling and recovery operation is the secure destruction of hard drives and secure data storage devices that hold sensitive information. This is a critical service for many businesses like lawyers, accountants, doctors and other institutions that are required to hold private data, then dispose of it completely. SCRI provides complete destruction services for secure data, we offer certificates of destruction and allow customers to witness shred destruction if required.

There is free drop off to anyone bringing their electronic recyclables to our Acheson facility. SCRI doesn't charge for any materials or electronic components that we accept, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of every opportunity to recycle their old or malfunctioning electronics.

Approved Program Material

The government subsidizes specific materials by way of an environmental surcharge that is incorporated into specific electronic purchases. We receive funding from the government to recover and recycle these electronics because of how harmful their components can be to the environment. We will gladly provide free pickup for products like TVs, monitors, laptops and desktop computers or you can drop off your recycled electronics at our Acheson facility near Edmonton.

Secure Data Destruction

Beyond our mission of environmentally conscious recycling and recovery of computers and electronics, SCRI is committed to the secure destruction of sensitive data. Our transport process and facility are both quality controlled for security and access, ensuring the complete and total destruction of electronic information. We offer free pickup and drop off across the greater Edmonton area and central Alberta for data devices and secure destruction of all information contained on electronics.Destroying sensitive information and data devices is very common for businesses and residents, removing outdated financial information, business records or other private data. Our clients range from government institutions, lawyers, accountants, residents, doctors, dentists and various groups that maintain private electronic data as part of their business.

Controlled Destruction Process

Sensitive materials are accepted at our facility or picked up by our secure vehicles. Our secure Acheson location just outside Edmonton holds all devices and hard drives and can only be accessed by authorized personnel. Cameras and alarms secure our facility at all times, monitoring all data storage devices until complete destruction. We do offer certificates of destruction to anyone requesting proof.

Witnessed Destruction

For organizations and individuals wanting to supervise the destruction of their hard drives and other secure data devices, SCRI permits witnessed destruction. Our Edmonton facility is safe and offers an easy way to view the entire process of demolition. This is often utilized by the law firms, government bodies and other groups required to witness the complete destruction of their electronic information.

Complete Recycling Process

Once an electronic product is shredded beyond any measure of recovery, we still adhere to our goal of environmental stewardship. All destroyed materials are further broken down and recycled by other organizations with the same mission. It’s important to SCRI that the destruction process doesn’t end in a landfill, and that all suitable materials are recycled and reused.
