Runick Metal Recycling was founded in 2007. Our purpose is to purchase scrap metal from area residents, local manufacturers, municipalities, and small businesses in an effort to recycle unused items. We buy both ferrous (such as iron and steel) and nonferrous (such as aluminum, copper, stainless steel, nickel, brass, tin, and lead) metal. We buy all types of scrap metal for recycling whether you bring it into our yard or we haul it for you. We pride ourselves on our honest and friendly customer service. We try to assist you as quickly as possible and offer the most competitive rates available.
Customers in our yard will be assisted in the unloading process by helpful employees with the use of heavy equipment such as cranes and forklifts to unload trailers. We can haul from your location via dumpsters, tow truck or a specialized clam truck that has a claw like boom to load into a high sided box. If you have a car that won’t start or a collection of farm machinery we have the means to move it. We also offer demolition services if you have a metal structure you would like removed such as a steel shed or silo.
We process raw scrap metal by sorting, shearing, torching and baling. The resulting processed metal is used by steel mills and foundries in the Midwest to produce finished steel and other metal products. Through recycling millions of tons of material find new uses each year.
Items we take:

Items we do not take:
We do not accept certain materials for processing because they are sources of hazardous substances to our employees and the envirmoment, these include radioactive materials, explosives, flammable materials, free-flowing liquids, corrosives, poisons, chemicals, pressurized or enclosed containers. Examples are televisions, monitors, computers, electrical ballasts and light bulbs, paint cans.
We ask that propane tanks have the pressure released. You can do this by removing the valve. Chemical containers such as fuel and oil barrels or paint cans must be dry inside. We do accept devices containing freon such as vehicles or appliances. We are licensed to remove freon from these devices. If an appliance is brought in still containing freon we will charge $10 to properly dispose of it for you.
