Our founder, Ronald Rosenthal, immigrated from his home in Germany to the United States just before World War II. He took a modest job sweeping metal fillings and debris from the warehouse floors of a prominent New York City copper and brass distributor. In between shifts, he dreamed that one day he would start a brand new company – one that would focus on stocking unusual sizes in quantities that would keep up with customer demand. Mr. Rosenthal’s sheer drive and ambition pushed him to acquire funding. He made Rotax a reality in 1947.
An analytic thinker and detail-oriented leader, Mr. Rosenthal worked tirelessly to bring Rotax to the forefront of the copper and brass industry. Many of our supplier and customer relationships were forged during these years, and still remain today.
Originally located on Spring Street in Manhattan, we consolidated all operations to a warehouse in Brooklyn in 2005, where we still operate today.
We thrive on the marriage of modernity and trustworthiness. Thanks to the Internet age, we have expanded our market presence, and introduced new generations to the industry. We continue to evolve with the changing business environment so we can guarantee the top level of service and reliability our customers have grown to expect and love. But like the color of the copper and brass we provide, our guiding principles and values have remained constant, and we have brought them forth into the modern age.
Each and every product in our catalog has been carefully caste, milled, and inspected to ensure that our clients get only the best materials. We are proud to have 60 years of trusted service behind all of our copper and brass sales.
