River Metals Recycling, LLC (RMR) is a wholly owned venture of Cincinnati-based,The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ), one of the USA’s largest scrap metal companies. Our parent company’s rich history began in 1885. We possess a wealth of experience and an entrepreneurial spirit that is vital to success in the scrap recycling industry.
DJJ is also part of Nucor Corporation’s family of companies. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nucor is the leading purchaser of ferrous scrap and the largest recycler in North America.
RMR was formed in 1998 by combining the Klempner Brothers yard, River City Baling, and River City Shredding (all in Louisville, KY) with DJJ’s Henderson, KY and Newport, KY yards.
Today, we operate 9 recycling facilities in 4 states with a focused presence in the Louisville, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio regions. We buy all types of ferrous and nonferrous scrap metals at each of our recycling locations, with a team of specialists who continually monitor market conditions to establish fair, competitive prices.
We have a track record that speaks for itself: Integrity, reliability, timely payments, innovation and quality services that consistently exceed customer’s expectations.
friendly service in 9 locations across 4 states. From common household items to outdated machinery, we guarantee payment on time, every time.
RMR pays top dollar for scrap metal when you’re looking to sell your scrap! Bring us your old stoves, refrigerators, frying pans, bicycles, electronic scrap, you name it… and we’ll recycle all of them. It’s a win-win for you and the environment.
We cater to the industrial and manufacturing sectors with our highly skilled dispatch teams who manage massive container scrap collection and pickup services. We provide customers with fast, reliable, personalized, comprehensive transportation services tailored to your schedule, moving materials from your scrap yard or manufacturing facility to one of our nine recycling plants.

When we – the nearly 250 employees of RMR – look at scrap, we don’t see heaps of rusty, old metal. We see potential. Potential for shiny new cars and appliances. Potential for affordable feedstock for production. And of course, for conserving energy and creating a cleaner environment. Then we go to work, harnessing all that potential with the best technology in the business.
