Electronic waste, or e-waste, is an increasing problem in today's computerized world. E-waste comes from an accumulation of disused equipment whether it's broken, obsolete or surplus. Since many components contain hazardous materials, e-waste can cause serious environmental damage and pollution if disposed of improperly. Environmental damage isn't the only thing e-waste creates, heavy metals and toxic materials also severly negatively impact human health. PC Recyclers is recycling a better way.
Since 2004, PC Recyclers of Idaho has been helping curb e-waste by recycling and properly disposing of computers and all related equipment. PC Recyclers provides safe recycling for all types of e-waste regardless of type or brand. Our methods and systems are constantly audited by a third party to ensure we are using the most current and appropriate recycling teqniques.
And unlike others in the industry, we dismantle all of our equipment to separate out any hazardous materials. From there, all hazardous waste is shipped to EPA Approved facilities for appropriate disposal. We can ensure from beginning to end, the destruction of sensitive equipment and information, through safe EPA approved methods. We are R2 Certified which is a very extensive process to go through, and a very presigious certification to maintain.
This excerpt from 60 minutes shows the vast and dangerous consequences of improper disposal of electronics. Each year hundreds of thousands of obsolete computers end up in landfills, presenting real challenges to your business and the environment. In Southern Idaho, businesses and government agencies have discovered the benefits of our free PC recycling services, including the recycling of reusable and non-reusable equipment, and the disposal of hazardous materials to EPA Approved locations. From the moment we haul away your old equipment we ensure total privacy and security through the complete destruction of the hard drives. Any drives that we deem reusable we wipe clean using a DoD approved software program. All hardrives and electronics that can contain sensitive material are put through our Ameri-Shred Shredder, permanantly destroying all data.
Our electronics are great when they're new but after the usefulness has worn off we just throw many of them away. E-waste is the surplus of unused electronic equipment that more often than not, finds it's way into landfills.
We are a certified R2 recycler which means we recycle your old electronics in an ethical and safe manner. The Responsible Recycling Practices Standard (R2:2013) is recognized by the EPA and meets a wide range of stringent requirements. These requirements needed to be met include: environmental, public health, worker health, and security. R2 certifiaction practices setforth a stringent set of requirements for us to follow.
Our recycling services are always free whether you drop off your old equipment or we pick it up. And in all cases, none of the equipment is ever put in the landfill. Reusable equipment is distributed to the community and local charities, and non-reusable equipment is broken down into raw materials.
Hazardous materials are separated out and shipped to EPA approved locations. Other raw materials are shipped off to the appropriate refinery to be processed for reuse. Any high-end equipment left is sold through various distribution channels.
Computers and related equipment are part of our everyday lives. Unfortunately, that same equipment often contains hazardous materials within their components. If not disposed of properly, these materials can cause serious environmental damage and pollution.
At PC Recyclers of Idaho, all computer equipment that we handle is disposed of properly and effectively. Reusable equipment is distributed to the community and local charities free of charge or sold through wholesale channels. Non-reusable equipment is broken down into raw materials through approved processes and disposed of in an environmentally-safe manner.
Any hazardous material or components within the equipment is disposed of at EPA approved locations. And in all cases, none of the equipment that we handle is ever put into landfills, which create green house gasses.
