PSDS is the only authorized waste collection hauler for the City of Palm Springs, California. Complete residential, commercial and roll-off (industrial) trash services are offered. Residential services also include recycling, green waste, electronic waste and a variety of special services. Commercial and industrial business services include recycling and green waste, construction and debris removal, document shredding, and off-site secure storage for sensitive documents.
History
Locally owned and operated, Palm Springs Disposal has been serving the community since it was first awarded a contract in 1972.The waste industry is one of the most regulated industries in the state of California and PSDS has a flawless record of complying with those mandates. And, as available landfill space becomes a major issue, we continue to improve our recycling programs so that less waste ends up in our landfills. It is our mission and responsibility to conserve our community and our environment with safe and efficient waste disposal.
Single Family Residences are provided with once per week collection. residential trash cansResidents have a variety of service options to choose from which range in the number of carts collected each week (from 1-4). Walk-in service for up to 50 feet from the curb is also available. New carts will be provided.
Recycling is now easier than ever.The blue 3-cubic yard bin is the place for ALL of your recyclables. There's no need to separate paper from plastic, glass, or metal. That is, your recyclables can be "commingled." Place everything recyclable into the blue bin.
The Recycling Process
Bulky Item Pickup includes appliances, furniture, some auto parts, and some construction debris.
The Citywide Cleanup happens twice a year and provides residents an opportunity to set out additional compactible household waste at the curb for collection.
Document Shredding is available to commercial and residential customers and is offered weekly, monthly, or on a will-call basis.
Motor Oil Disposal is available to residential customers on a convenient curbside basis.
Document Shredding services are available to both commercial and residential customers at competitive rates. Shredding is available on a weekly, monthly or will-call basis and documents can be picked up by our bonded crew or you can drop documents off at our facility by appointment on Wednesdays.After the shredding process is complete, we provide a "Certificate of Destruction" so that you can be assured that your documents have been properly disposed.We also offer locked security cabinets at a low monthly rental fee which provides an off-site, secure location for your sensitive documents.Shredding is scheduled for every Wednesday. Residential customers are eligible for free collection of appliances, furniture, auto parts (2 pieces), eWaste, construction debris (2 pieces) and tires. These bulky items cannot exceed 150 pounds per item and must be easily lifted by two men. This free service includes two bulky items per year per residence. Items that don't meet these requirements will be subject to charges.Bulky items should be brought to the curb and will be collected throughout the week on your regular service day. Please call (760) 327-1351 ext. 313 to schedule your pickup. If items cannot be moved to the curb by the homeowner, PSDS will pick up the items at the homeowner's expense (No more than 50 feet from the curb).Bulky items can also be collected during the Citywide Cleanup events in April and October. You are afforded an additional 2 items per household during these events and they can be placed at the curb on the Monday morning of the Cleanup.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) includes a variety of wastes that may be accepted at the Permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility. HHW cannot be accepted by PSDS and cannot be disposed in your trash can. If HHW are discovered in your trash cans, the matter will be turned over to the District Attorney's office.To dispose of small quantities of antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint, take them to the HHW Facility located at 1100 Vella Road in Palm Springs. These products are hazardous or considered toxic wastes and cannot be disposed of in our landfills.
Examples of HHW include: Adhesives, Drain Openers, Antifreeze, Paints (Oil and Latex), Batteries (auto, single use, rechargeable), Solvents, Pesticides, Household Cleaners, Used Oil and Filters, Swimming Pool Chemicals, Nail Polish, Fuels, Propane Cylinders/Tanks, Cosmetics, Fertilizers, Fluorescent Bulbs, Ballasts, Fire Extinguishers, Used Oil Filters and Electronic Wastes. HHW are products marked with the words, “Toxic” or “Poison”, “Flammable” or “Combustible”, or “Danger”, “Caution” or “Warning”.
