Two things affect the value of your scrap metal: the condition it’s in, and the current market price for the kind of metal you’re selling. Metal prices are constantly changing, but we keep on top of the market to make sure we’re offering competitive pricing for your scrap metal. Here are some things you can do to get more for your metal:
Test it first
If a magnet sticks to your metal- it’s ferrous. If a magnet doesn’t stick, you have non-ferrous metal, which is usually more valuable.
Sort it out
Separating the different types of metal makes it easy for us to see what you have, and you’ll know exactly what you’re getting paid for each type. If you don’t have the time to sort your metal, we’ll gladly accept it all mixed together. We will price the metal based on the mix of grades.
Clean it up
“Dirty” Non-Ferrous scrap is Non-Ferrous metal that has iron or steel attachments (like screws or rivets) or is literally covered with dirt, wood, paper, paint, or other debris. We usually pay less for dirty scrap than we do for clean scrap, so investing a little time to clean up your metal can help you earn more.
If a metal theft does occur, call the police immediately so that local recyclers and scrap dealers can be alerted. Don’t disturb the crime scene as the evidence (tire tracks, shoe marks, fingerprints, etc.) could be used to help prosecute the thieves if they are caught.
