M&R Recycling Solutions has been active in the field of metal recycling since the early 1970s. At this comparatively early stage - when the idea of recycling was still much less important than it is today - the company founder at the time was already dealing with the separation of metals from the residues of the car shredders of the time.
The technology required for this was not very well developed and so a great deal of technical development was necessary at the time in order to produce usable metals on competitive terms.
Later in the 1990s, the company also dealt with the processing of electronic scrap. At that time the first shredder of the M&R was built. Since a legal obligation to take back old electrical equipment only came into force much later, in 2005, the primary goal at that time was efficient metal recovery in addition to pollutant removal.
From then on, M&R has continuously operated and further developed these two core business areas. In addition to many other characteristics, a strong technical know-how and well-founded specialist knowledge in the field of raw material utilization played the major role in the company's successful development over many years.
In 2001, the company moved from its two locations in Oberberg to the then new location in Bergkamen, where it has been based on the former colliery site there ever since.
