Roots of the Midland Davis Corp. can be traced back to 1892, when Louis Livingston, only 20 at the time joined with his brother Ike to begin his career in the scrap industry. A new arrival to America, this enterprising young man initially earned his living collecting discarded iron and steel that he would then sell to local foundries and mills.

By 1908, the still young Mr. Livingston was becoming a success, growing his business to the point where a scrap yard was required. Louis bought property in East Moline, Illinois, and named his operation Midland Iron & Steel.

Now in its 5th generation of family ownership,Mr. Livingston’s company has evolved to become Midland Davis, a trusted provider of high-quality services within all major segments of the recycling industry. Today, Midland Davis operates from three locations, collecting and recycling many grades of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, as well as paper, plastics, and wood. With more than a century of recycling experience behind us, Midland Davis has developed an unmatched depth of understanding when it comes to the needs of our customers. For one, it remains impossible to produce a product without generating 3 to 5 percent scrap metal. The values we pay for your scrap metal are set each day and fluctuate with industrial demand and current market trends. If the market is high, those benefits are passed along to you and other Midland’s customers.Once your scrap metal arrives in our yard, it is carefully sorted, cut, and thoroughly cleaned to remove all contaminates. The processed scrap is then shipped to foundries or steel mills where it is re-melted to make new products. One reason we can pay top dollar for your scrap is the investments we have made in custom processing equipment, including several pieces unique to Midland. This specialized equipment allows Midland to provide products that melt more efficiently and conform to stringent specifications set by individual foundries and mils.Midland Davis deals in all major scrap commodities as recognized by the American Metal Market. Since the onset of the 21st century, the demand for high quality aluminum and other non-ferrous metals has grown like no other commodity. Again, energy costs have been the primary driver, as it takes 95 percent less energy to recycle an aluminum can than it does to create one from raw materials. The savings in fresh water are nearly as impressive.In response, Midland Davis has developed an active collection program, reimbursing both companies and individuals – in cash, if you choose -- for aluminum cans delivered to our facilities in Moline and Pekin, Illinois. Prices are competitive, and adjusted perodically based on market prices.
