recycling alum plastic occ balesMaui Disposal operates 4 redemption centers in Maui County located in Wailuku, Pukalani, Molokai and on Lanai. Maui Disposal services the recycling needs of hundreds of commercial and residential customers operating over 2 dozen recycling routes per week. We provide curbside recycling to many of our gated communities including those utilizing Maui Disposal’s “ White Glove Valet” service and construction projects with recyclable material.Maui Disposal ships many containers every month of recyclable material to market out of our Material Recovery Facility. This is product that otherwise would have been disposed of in the landfill, which makes Maui Disposal not only the largest solid waste hauler but also the largest recycler and processor on Maui.
Front End Loaders (FEL’s) are trucks with hydraulic forks on the front to lift dumpsters up and dump their contents into the box of the truck.Inside the box the waste is compacted over and over until the box is completely full. FEL’s are also used for Green Waste, Cardboard and Glass collection. These vehicles are a cost effective way of emptying many customer’s waste and recyclables for transport to the designated disposal site or recycling facility. Businesses, condominiums, offices, shopping centers, restaurants and resorts all utilize this service. Maui Disposal can pick up over seventy containers before transporting the collected waste to the proper facility. The FEL is also used for Maui Disposal’s automated service for gated communities. This service allows communities to have uniform containers for the entire community. The lids are attached to the container, which keeps pests and animals out and the rubbish in the container.
The vehicles and containers are called roll offs because the bins are hoisted on to the trucks and then rolled off whenever they are needed. Roll off service is usually a temporary service for contractors building new buildings and demolition projects. However, roll offs are also used to collect green waste, cardboard and general waste for hauling to the appropriate disposal site or recycling facility. These containers are available in 10, 20 and 30 cubic yard capacities. Roll off vehicles are also used for hauling compactors from the customer’s location to the landfill and back.
All waste must be segregated by type of waste for disposal at the correct facility. Wastes that must be separated are cardboard, green waste, construction/demolition, metals and general household wastes. The haul rates vary for roll offs and compactors depending on how far your facility is located from the disposal site. In general, roll offs are only economical for very large quantities of waste debris. The Department of Transportation enforces a ten-ton maximum on these roll off vehicles. Maui Disposal employees will help you in determining the size of the roll off to fit your needs. The 10 yd roll off is a special container not only for tight areas and small spaces but also for heavier debris. By utilizing this container for heavy products such as dirt, concrete, asphalt shingles, etc., you can manage the weight of the load in the container.
Compactors are enclosed 25 to 35 cubic yard waste machines, whereby many tons of material is disposed of and compacted repeatedly on site avoiding the need for many dumpsters or multiple roll off containers. Compactors contain the waste avoiding leakage or pilferage. This equipment is up to 20 feet long and utilizes electricity and hydraulics. At Maui Disposal there is a staff to assist you by consulting, advising, ordering and ultimately selling you the appropriate compactor set up for the individual needs of each property by customizing the unit to dock or ground feed operations, rear, left or right feed, enclosed “dog house” or open hopper. We have fully certified compactor repairmen available and ready for installation of any compactors or balers.
Maui Disposal has a full time LEED Green Associate to assist you in setting up any LEED project and prepare monthly reports of the rubbish tonnage and diversion tonnage. Our LEED Green Associate will also assist our customers with Waste Audits for their facilities trying to achieve LEED Status. For construction projects large and small we have a myriad of containers available to ensure you have the equipment necessary to keep you in compliance with County of Maui ordinances and to help you achieve your goals most efficiently.
Tilt tops are available for transporting the construction or other material from remote areas to any roll off on site. Maui Disposal operates 365-days per year; however, the County of Maui landfill and the Construction/Demolition landfill are closed on Sundays. In addition, the Construction/Demolition landfill is always closed on holidays and inclement weather days; therefore, our construction customers can request their roll off be hauled and stored until the Construction/Demolition landfill is open again. There is a charge for this service, but at least your job can continue with an empty roll off in place. We have 10.0 yd roll offs for heavy material such as tile, sand, dirt and concrete; this helps ensure you keep the load under the ten-ton maximum enforced by the Department of Transportation. We also can provide you with a 15.0 yd concrete wash out roll off or low-sided for easy loading on site of tile and other heavy material. If used for concrete wash out, the roll off must be lined with heavy duty plastic.Maui Disposal has roll off base yards around the island to offer our customers a quick delivery or fast turnaround for their service needs.Contractor’s that have large jobs and need multiple pulls on the same day and consecutive days are not a problem for us, just call to discuss your job site needs and we will ensure we have a dedicated driver for your job for the day.
