Employed in the Metal Distribution Industry for close to 40 years, founder and current President David S. Amis began to reconized a need for a new type of metals distribution. As industries began to embrace the Just In Time mantra, they were no longer interested in truck loads of metal, instead looking to minimize their metal inventory and in search of a partnering distributor who could then meet the all-importatnt FAST delivery.
Customers were also looking for some Added Value, such as cut to length, metal processing, and a single source for their diverse metal needs.
First opening in 1996, Maintenance Metals & Alloys Inc. began as a small warehouse on the east side of Toronto, servicing the local industrial base. Commited to exceptional customer service the business quickly grew from a 3,000 sq. ft facility to a 5,000 sq. ft facility. Constantly increasing and improving the inventory to meet the wider range of metal products required by the growing customer base and their need for various metal types.
By 2004, now serving a wide range of differing industries throughout the GTA and beyond, we had outgrown the 5,000 sq. ft faciltity. Early in 2004, an opportunity to incorporate a partnering metal distributor - The Metal Depot located in the Vaughan/Concord area - was on the horizon. By the end of 2004, Maintenance Metals & Alloys Inc. had purchased The Metal Depot and moved its entire operation to the 10,000 sq. ft facility located in Concord. Centrally located at the northern reaches of Toronto, and close to major transportation routes, the larger facility allowed for an increase in inventory, an even wider range of metal products, more added value services, and the ability to quickly and efficiently deliver material to our ever growing customer base.
Still located in Concord and never wavering from our commitment to Excpetional Customer Service, today Maintenance Metals & Alloys Inc. maintains the reputation as the "go to" supplier for an expansive range of diverse industries. Over 15 years later, we have become an industry leader and are now Canada’s largest and most successful small order metals distributor.
