For over 60 years, Main Metal Recycling has served the needs of the local community recycling scrap aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel and steel. We continue to grow and add services to support our customer’s needs. A steel yard was added in 2012.

From One Generation to the Next

Jim Pope, Owner, succeeded his father, the late William Pope, who purchased the business from the family of the original owner, the late Maurice Bartley.  Bartley had opened the company in 1960.  In 2001, when LaVilla was revitalized, the company relocated from the original 102 Stuart Street location to its current location.

Recyclables were called “scrap” when Jim was a child watching his father work. Intrigued, he became committed to scrap from that point on: “Once you get scrap in your blood,” he says, “it stays with you.” 

Jim has seen the company evolve over four decades to today’s modern, efficient business featuring a 14 acre facility and 200,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space. Wherever he sees scrap, be it China, Canada, Mexico or anywhere in the world, Jim thinks about how to recycle it. That explains why Main Metal Recycling has been importing and exporting scrap metal for so many years.

Main Metal Recycling has been a trusted name in the Jacksonville recycling industry for over 60 years.  It has always been our commitment to conduct environmentally safe methods of recovering materials that would otherwise have been landfilled.
