Started between 1987 and 1988, Lewis Clark Recyclers consisted of little more than a single man's dream. Mark Armstrong - the owner and founder of LCRI - recalls "putting everything I could into operations for the first five years. It wasn't until 1994 that I actually began taking a small wage and making LCRI my only occupation."
Throughout the 90's, the company expanded its clientele and its business reach, partially by putting larger annual profits to use to mechanize operations collection and enlarge processing capabilities. By 2000, LCRI had purchased assets of 3 smaller commercial recycling companies in the LC Valley. In 2002, LCRI landed several large industrial waste management contracts, which ultimately tripled revenues and staff while achieving annual volumes in excess of 100,000 tons. In 2004, LCRI purchased assets that enabled them to add mobile document destruction to the host of diverse services already being offered within a constantly growing service area.
By 2010, that single man's dream had extended the expertise of waste reduction recycling and document destruction to the 9 surrounding counties - an over 4200-mile service area.
And we have no intention of stopping there! Our vision is to bring recycling into every home in the Palouse valley, to make Earth Day one of the biggest events in our state, and to make our neighborhood a sustainability pattern for our world.
With LCRI, it's not a matter of what . . . it's a matter of what's next.
