The Recycling Center accepts concrete, asphalt, brick, block, and related materials. We then recycle the raw material into a finished product that can be used as an economical substitute for virgin aggregates. In addition to manufacturing, supplying, and delivering quality recycled products, we can assist you with supply and delivery of virgin construction aggregates, specialty hauling services, roll-off services, portable contract crushing, and other related services.
In 2006, Laney Materials, LLC purchased The Recycling Center and has been managing it ever since. We were able to steadily improve and expand the center’s operations by focusing on the quality of our products and long-term relationships with our customers. We work with you as a team to help you reach your project goals and meet your deadlines by providing exceptional products and services when and where you need them.
At The Recycling Center, we specialize in quality and convenience. Here are some of the ways we take part in the Baltimore and Washington construction communities.
Recycled Asphalt Pavement
Hot Mix Asphalt(HMA) that is produced using a percentage of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement is often used in construction or maintenance applications. HMA is the most frequently used material for the paving of roads and highways. Experts anticipate that RAP will continue to expand in its use in HMA in future applications.
Benefits
Affordable – One major advantage of using RAP for roadway construction is that it reduces the cost to produce new asphalt products. Recycled asphalt requires less liquid asphalt than virgin asphalt. Considering the fact that asphalt contains a high volume of oil and that oil prices are volatile and expensive, this can make a huge difference.
recyclingEnvironmentally Responsible – These days, all of us are trying to do our part to reduce, reuse and recycle. Asphalt is not a biodegradable material, and any waste that is thrown into landfills will remain there, taking up space forever. In addition, non-renewable resources must be used to generate virgin asphalt. It’s much more environmentally responsible to choose a material that minimizes waste by re-purposing old asphalt.
Excellent Bonding Qualities – Asphalt that has been recycled still has some tar in it. This means that, unlike other loose-fill roadway materials, recycled asphalt aggregate will bond together when wetted and compacted, allowing for a semi-permanent roadway that remains in place and minimizes dust and dirt.
Percolation – The composition of an RAP roadway allows it to hold up well in rain and snow. It percolates well, preventing pooling and flooding on the roadway.
Appearance – In addition to being affordable and durable, roadway that are surfaced with RAP can be extremely attractive. They share a look that is a cross between a picturesque gravel surface and an asphalt surface. This unique appearance is appealing to homeowners who are looking to stand out from the other houses on the block.
We can perform portable crushing if you have 10,000 tons or more of rubble with concrete, stone, or asphalt. We will set up a portable crushing plant on your construction site which includes crushing and heavy support equipment such as loaders, hammers and pickers. If required we can have portable screeners to size material. We will work with you closely to produce premium recycled aggregate based on your exact specifications and project requirements, helping you save money and reduce construction waste.
