Kimmel Scrap Iron & Metal has been recycling America's precious resources since 1930. Starting in Iowa City, Iowa, Ben Kimmel began with a horse and buggy, buying and selling, rags and junk. In the following years he started shipping loads of scrap metal to various consumers in the local area.
In 1950 Morris Kimmel married Ruth Mason the daughter of the other scrap metal dealer in Iowa City. Together they moved to Detroit, Michigan and founded Kimmel Scrap Iron & Metal Co. With hard work and perseverance they survived where many other companies have gone by the wayside.
In 1978 Robert Kimmel joined the company and is following in the tradition of his family of providing quality service to his customers and exceptional value to the many mills and foundries Kimmel Scrap Iron & Metal supplies.
Kimmel Scrap Iron & Metal has two rail spurs leading into its facility. We are located on the CSXT line and are able to load, unload, store and ship just-in-time products to you
