The Kantner Yard located on Whistler Road was opened in 1993 by the current officers of the company, John and Rochelle Toth.

Seven years later, with a great reputation for fair trade and their "Price Promise", Kantner Iron and Steel expanded  and opened their second yard in Friedens.
