Kane Scrap Iron & Metal, Inc was founded in 1982 by Robert E. Kane Sr, Robert E. Kane Jr, and Patrick M. Kane, Sr.Bob, Sr. worked in the scrap business after returning home from WWII. Bob, Jr and Pat joined him when it was time for them to go to work. In 1981 Bob, Sr. retired, but it didn't last long before he was doing dismantling jobs and scraping with his sons. It was only a matter of time before Kane Scrap was born and the business moved into a small building in the Cabotville Industrial Park in Chicopee.After that Kane Scrap continued to grow and they bought a building and a little bit of land at 184 East Meadow St, then 165 East Meadow, and not too long ago, 199 East Meadow. While the business continues to grow in size, updated equipment make it easier to process, pack, and load materials in and out of Kane Scrap.At one time or another all of Bob, Sr and Peg's grandchildren have work at the yard, truly making it a family business.

The Following are Prohibited Materials that we cannot accept at our facilities. Their inclusion in your scrap metal load may result in rejection of your load.

• PCBs/Capacitors
• Closed containers including unapproved drums
• Pressurized containers including post consumer aerosal cans
• CFCs/HFCs**
• Whole or broken batteries within ferrous loads
• Television or computer crt monitors
• No scrap materials with HAZMAT or Radioactive markings
• Any free-flowing liquids or solid wastes
• Any combustible, flammable or explosive materials
• Asbestos materials
• Lightning ballast
• Radioactive materials
• Mercury (switches)
• Firearms and munitions (except by prior arrangement)
• Fluids drained from all components

• Flatbed
• Box Trailer
• Open Top Trailer

Our Policies

• Kane Scrap Customers only get PAID once a day.
• Please collect your slips until your last trip of the day then you will be paid for everything that your brought in for the day.
• Please do not leave with slips that have not been initialed and dated.
• As of 8/7/11 any customers who fail to comply with this policy will receive a $10 bookeeping fee for any subsequent slips that are processed.
• As of 11/17/11 , no checks will be replaced after being voided for the 90 day period.
• A vaild ID is required to collect payment from Kane Scrap.
