The Hoffmann Metallhandel company was founded in 1948 by Carl Hoffmann in what was then Werner Siemens Strasse in Hamburg and has been successfully expanded over 3 generations. The company has been located at Mühlenhagen 152-154 since 1962.

In 1982, the son Karl-Heinz Hoffmann took over the father's business. Due to the success, there was soon a lack of space and new space was needed, so the company premises were expanded from 2,500 square meters to 4,500 square meters. The machine park also increased enormously during this period.
