For those of you not familiar with our company, a short history:
Gruda Metal Corp. is owned and operated by Kay Bowser and her two sons Duce and JP. The Bowser family acquired the company in 2003. Duce's wife Jen and JP's girlfriend Holly work in the office. We are truly a family organization. We also typically employ 3 or 4 others who work in the scalehouse and yard and feel like family.
We love to see families recycle and will do all we can to make your trip to Gruda's an enjoyable and profitable experience.
If you are not familiar with our company and your first contact with us is online: We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are, we will be more than happy to help.
Here are some quick facts:
TIN - Appliances, cars, and thin sheet metal are categorized as tin. Refrigerators and freezers must have the refrigerant removed and the doors disconnected. Numerous items fit the tin category, and we simply do not have room to list them all.
"CLEAN" Metals - When we refer to "clean " metals we mean free of other materials. For example: "clean" aluminum will be free of insulation, nails, screws, and staples.
SCALES - When you arrive at our location with steel, cast iron, motor blocks, aluminum, or tin pull directly onto the scale. Park your vehicle on the scale and walk into the scalehouse office. The scalemaster will get your name and direct you through the next step. Our scales are two-way, you can pull on in either direction. Please be courteous to other customers and take turns pulling on the scales.
MIXED LOADS - Gruda Metals accepts mixed loads and we will gladly show you the best way to get the most from your load. Please keep in mind when loading that different materials go to different areas. Load like items together to make unloading easier. For example: If you come in with prep. steel, unprep. steel, tin and aluminum, load each category in a separate area of your vehicle or in layers in the order you want to unload. We have no limit to the number of times you can weigh in and out on our scales.
MINIMUMS - All items which are paid for "by the pound" have a minimum quantity of 1 pound. All items which are paid for "by CWT" have a minimum quantity of 40 pounds.
CWT - We now pay by CWT (hundred weight) for all steel, cast iron, motorblocks, and tin. CWT = 100 pounds.
