Turning waste into resources
Welcome to Ground Up Recycling. Ground Up is Tennessee's resource for the hard to handle recyclables. We currently specialize in providing end use markets in Asphalt shingles and are continuing our growth in other recyclable areas.
Thanks for visiting the website, please take some time to learn more about Ground Up and shingle recycling.
Let's talk about shingles for a minute:
- 11 million tons of shingles are sent to landfill in North America each year.
- The average roof is three tons
- The average waste footprint of a family for a year is three tons.
- For every roof recycled, you are erasing a families waste footprint for an entire year.
- The average roof will pave 200ft of two lane highway
RECYCLING
Recycling is a collective effort. Without support from other recyclers, counties, and local government, and state offices; rogue type recycling efforts end with missed oppurtunities and no real benefit. When companies and organizations come together to support one another, CHANGE can happen.
WHY SHINGLES?
Did you know that 5% of landfill volume in weight is asphalt shingles?
By diverting shingles from the landfill, Rutherford County, added 5-7 YEARS of life to their current landfill.
Shingle Recycling is a Win-Win-Win
It benefits the State and the tax payer.
It benefits the Roofing contractor and the roofing customer.
It benefits the paving contractor.
