Great Lakes Electronics operates five electronics de-manufacturing and recycling facilities. The rapidly growing company was founded by Nathan Zack in 2000 in the basement of his house and now has over 120 employees and over 160,000 square feet of facilities with 6 acres of outdoor scrap yard . Great Lakes Electronics offers nationwide collection.
Safe and Secure Information Destruction
If you want your computer recycled safely and your data destroyed, Great Lakes Electronics is the company you have been looking for. The demanufacturing process takes old electronics (computers, servers, cable boxes, TVs and more) and breaks them down into their various components. Anything that contains personal, proprietary, or sensitive information is destroyed in the companies giant shredder and other components are recycled.
Great Lakes Electronics has a ZERO LANDFILL Policy
The volume of old or obsolete computers and electronics increases dramatically every year. The National Safety Council estimated that over 500 million PC’s have been relegated to scrap in the United States as of 2007. These old PC’s contain hazardous amounts of toxic heavy metals including lead, cadmium and mercury, and it is critical to the environment to keep these materials from landfills and incinerators.Through environmentally responsible disposal, GLE helps you turn these liabilities into assets. Components of value are allocated for reuse or recovery of raw materials. Remaining scraps are then properly recycled by permitted associate facilities.
We recycle all types of electronic equipment containing circuit boards, cathode ray tubes, ferrous and non-ferrous metals. No minimum shipments.GLE customers are issued Certificates of Recycle for each shipment processed.
DE-MANUFACTURING
Secure and Responsible Electronics Recycling
Great Lakes Electronics performs environmentally friendly recycling using de-manufacturing and asset recovery. Computers, monitors, terminals, printed circuit boards, telephone equipment, TV’s, VCR’s and communications systems are disassembled into component parts. Components of value are sold for reuse, and other parts are sent to certified facilities for metals recovery. All items from the de-manufacturing process are recycled.
Whether you have 10 pieces or 10,000 pieces, GLE will send our fully insured team of removal specialists with all the tools needed to palletize, remove and transport your equipment. We provide a nationwide pickup service to help accommodate all of your organization’s branches. When material is back at one of our facilities, it will be inventoried, and all company identification and/or sensitive information will be removed and destroyed. A Certificate of Recycle/Reuse will be issued for each shipment.
Equipment Re-marketing
At Great Lakes, we are always putting the environment, and the people that inhabit the environment, first. We have installed a re-marketing program that gives corporations a cost-effective alternative that grants them the possibility of receiving payment for their retired material, all the while, insuring that their material stays out of the landfill. The splendor of this program is that it presents a platform to own a computer at low cost, to those who are less fortunate. It is standard that all data bearing material will undergo a Department of Defense memory overwrite, should it be re-marketed. GLEC may purchase the following types of equipment (pending review of makes, models and date codes) for re-marketing:
