Electrical Wire is bought and sold based on its copper content (recovery)

Most Scrap Yards want you to keep all your insulated wire together so they can buy it cheap then separate and upgrade it for larger profits. We want you to make the most money from your metal so here is how we recommend you separate your wire.

Bare bright:

Stripped Electrical wire that is bright and shinny. It must be free of tape and any other impurity.

#1 Wire:

Stripped Electrical Wire that is no longer shinny or bright. It may be green or brown but not black.
It must be free of all other impurities.

#2 Wire:

Stripped Electrical Wire that is tinned, dirty, painted or has any other impurity on it.

#1 Buss Bar:

Electrically conductive solid copper bars. It must be free of any residue or debris It must also be free of tin.
#2 Buss Bar: Electrically conductive solid copper bars. Consists of tin coating, debris, paint or residue.
