Over the past 25 years Recycling has changed and evolved a lot-- that does mean regular changes that can and do affect You-- please help us by recycling properly-- there is a cost to this service-- gone are the days of dropping it off with no fees-- we now are required to pay at this time $20.00 per ton to get Your items recycled-- We no longer sort and separate our recycling it is all co mingled in a trash truck and hauled to Des Moines to be co mingle with everyone in Polk Counties recycling-- (see Picture following pages ) where it is then sorted, separated, baled and processed-- someone is dealing with the unnecessary contamination-- please become knowledgeable don't just assume that it's recyclable--
1966-1967 --The late --Lloyd C. Dodd a Maytag retiree and farmer. Along with his wife Peggy, parents of 5, and a pick up truck-- started private trash collection for residents in and near Newton, Iowa.
Over the past 49 years the pick up truck turned in to a fleet of 18 trucks, and their sons Doug, David, and grandsons Jeff and Eric joined the ever growing business, that to date offeres -- City wide trash/recycling collection if Newton, Kellogg, Lamb Grove and Oakland Acres. Commerical and Private Rural trash and recycling service covering Jasper County-- as well as Roll off Service through out Central Iowa.
Lloyd's working spirit, is a legacy to his wife and children and a very success business partner to many through out forementioned area.
Dave Dodd watched The 20th Anniversary Earth Day Special-- that Earth Day Special really resonated with him-- viewing his life and work as trash hauler-- he knew that as stewards of this earth-- He and his family business must change to help preserve the Beauty of the Earth.
That day marks the beginning or a long and interesting journey that brings us on 4-20-2015 to the 25th Anniversary of Dodd's Recycling,
Everyone one that has joined in the effort we Thank You!!!! What may to some seem, as worthless or baby steps-- those steps in numbers have saved thousands and thousands of cubic yards landfilled space -thousands and thousands of trees being chopped down along with significiant amounts of water, oil, and electricity being wasted-- each of you have helped to make a HUGE difference at so many levels-- Over those 25 years-- the simple act of tossing your materials either a recycling bin or a trash can has evolued dramatically -- what took some effort to clean-sort and seperate so long ago-- is now so user friendly and a simple way of life-- If you recycle please feel proud of your efforts. For those that haven't taken those steps yet-- it can't get much easier-- two containers side by side creates a split second decision of where to drop your waste-a decision that will impact our environment for decades.
At Dodd's we consider that an extra--Extras are pre-arranged- typically completed after NON Sunday through Thursday. Dodd's will not accept more than 3 pick up loads per trip- more than 3 means more trips as pre arranged in advance or a roll off which the customers reserves and loads. Cost is determined by weight--To avoid City citations--pre-arrange the removal and the amount placed on the curb to avoid any nuisance violation. Large amounts of brush- requires tree service.NO removal of this type is collection with your normal trash on your trash day-- all extra removals pricing depends on weight. All materials must be placed where a large truck can access easily-- where there are not wire or tree limbs that will obstruct on the top of the truck-- If on a cement driveway the driveway must be worthy of a heavy truck-- Dodd's will not be responsible for any and all driveways.
Dumpster are typically seen behind churches, apartments and business. Dodd's also provide dumpster for pre arranged customers, for those that a roll off is more than what they need see below for standard sizes and dimensions --Which are not alwyas available and size and and lids may vary. These containers must be placed on a flat service-- when delivered there may be no wires or tree limbs that would obstruct on the top of a large truck, if placed on cement the cement must be worth of a heavy truck, Dodd's will not be responsible for any damage due to customers placement.
Typically used for roofing, remodeling - commonly seen on Construction Sites. They very in size- typically 22 to 24 foot long-- 8 foot wide-- taller the sides the more cubic yards the container will hold (see below) -- Dodd's roll off pricing is the same no matter what size is delivered-- first available will be delivered unless a specific size is required. Different styles available upon request. Scheduling in advance is highly recommended.
