Recycling

We will accept any used/damaged battery for proper recycling. Dixie Battery is an approved lead acid battery recycler.  Any battery we handle is disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.  We will never ship our junk batteries out of the country where standards for proper handling are not followed. Did you Know it is illegal to dispose of a lead-acid battery in the trash? 

Why Recycling?

The U.S. EPA estimates that more than 350 million rechargeable batteries, made of heavy metals like nickel cadmium, lithium ion, mercury, nickel metal hydride and lead acid, are bought each year in the United States. If they are not properly managed, these elements can:

• Pollute the lakes and streams
• Cause issues at solid waste landfills
• Bring lead and acid into the environment and water
• Expose corrosive acids
• Burn or harm the eyes and skin

Battery users must take responsibility for protecting the environment. Be sure to return your spent battery when you purchase a new one. You can always contact your local government or local battery supplier for additional information.

STARTING, LIGHTING, IGNITION

This is the type of battery that most people think of, the one that starts and powers a vehicle. SLI batteries make up most of what Dixie Battery does.  We also carry SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) as well as AGM (Absorbed Glass Matt) GEL and Deep Cycle

INSTALLATION

Why would anyone charge $10 - $40 to install a battery? Most batteries can be changed in under 5 min with as few as 1 wrench. We understand there are some vehicles that require you to disassemble, what feels like, 1/2 the car just to get to the battery. Other than those few exceptions, we don't charge to install a battery. In fact, we don't charge to test your battery, clean the cables and apply an anti-corrosion protection, even if you didn't buy your battery from us.
