Dix Scrap Iron & Metal Company is a metal recycler focused on small industrial and commercial users whose scrap streams are too small or too diverse for the large, high volume scrap metal yards. We are a Michigan 'C' corporation, fully insured and licensed, and have been operating at the same location since 1935. Using our compact lugger trucks, we can economically remove quantities as small as three cubic yards of most metals. These containers can usually be placed inside buildings or other secured areas to frustrate metal thieves.
Dix Scrap purchases all nontoxic metals from industrial and commercial metal users, although we specialize in stainless steel and high alloys. We are configured to sort, separate, and disassemble items so as to recover valuable metals which other scrap metal yards cannot. Our chemical and metallurgical capabilities allow us to achieve the highest economic values from scrapped metal.
Because Dix Scrap does not purchase ferrous scrap metal from individuals at our yard, our yard is virtually free of the detritus which flattens tires at other metal recyclers. This also reduces congestion in our yard so individuals with nonferrous metals can get in and out with their money in a fraction of the time required at bigger yards.

All nonferrous, nontoxic metals, as well as catalytic convertors, at our facility in Detroit. We do not pick up scrap metal from homes, nor do we buy automobiles, iron, or steel (ferrous metals - those which draw a magnet) from individuals. All metal purchases from individuals are subject to the Laws of the State of Michigan and the Municipal Codes of the City of Detroit.
From Industrial & Commercial Metal Users:
All nontoxic metals, picking them up at the user's facility or accepting them at our facility in Detroit. All metal purchases from industrial and commercial users are also subject to the Laws of the State of Michigan and the Municipal Codes of the City of Detroit.

The toxic metals we do not accept are cadmium, lead, and mercury, as well as radioisotopes.
