We are committed to helping our community by providing a quick and convenient way to dispose of unwanted recyclable materials including electronic waste. We believe that by working together, businesses and communities can change the way we live. When you choose Desert Arc Recycling, you are choosing more than just a non-profit recycler, you are choosing a better way of life. Contact us today to see how your company can partner with us in building a more sustainable future.
The non-profit agency that would later become Desert Arc was first established in 1959. At the time, there were few services available to children with disabilities once they had completed school. A small group of concerned parents decided to change this and began the program that led us to where we are today.
Between 1959 and 1969, the program evolved to provide vocational training workshops to adults with disabilities in Palm Desert. With the construction of a new facility on donated land in 1983, and subsequent expansions in 1999 and 2000, Desert Arc has grown to provide vocational training, employment, and job placement services to over 600 clients throughout the Coachella Valley and the Morongo Basin, reaching as far west as Temecula and as far east as Blythe.
As the recycling division of Desert Arc, Desert Arc Recycling is dedicated to providing these same vocational and employment services to people with disabilities while working to protect the environment. We partner with local businesses and community members to collect and process recyclable materials.
We support the local economy by providing employment opportunities and by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. We also prevent recyclable waste from being sent to unregulated processing facilities in developing nations; this means the revenue generated by recycling stays local.
We are certified by Cal EPA and the Department of Toxic and Substance Control and are a California State approved collector and recycler of TV’s, monitors, and other electronic waste. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of environmental responsibility and worker safety while recycling your end of life equipment.
We are a fully certified e-waste collector for the state of California. We are also certified to recycle aluminum, glass, bi metal, and plastic. We are a designated recycler with the cities of Palm Desert, Indio, Palm Springs, and La Quinta. We are certified with the Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC), which regulates and enforces the Electronic Waste and Recycling Act.
What is e-waste?
E-waste is electronic waste that has reached the end of its useable life. This includes: computers, laptops, DVD players, televisions, old office equipment, broken household appliances, and much more. Many of the components of these items are reusable and some are hazardous. Recycling e-waste ensures that everything that can be reused is, and everything that is hazardous is disposed of correctly. Check our What We Take page for a list of the e-waste we accept for recycling.
What are the benefits of recycling?
Recycling conserves resources, prevents emissions and water pollution, saves energy, supplies raw materials for industry, creates jobs, and reduces the need for new landfills. Plus, when you use our services, recycling helps expand opportunities for people with disabilities.
