Dave's Junkyard (Allen Range Road Used Auto Parts) is a family owned and operated salvage yard & scrap metal recycling facility. Located just off route 1 in Freeport, Maine. The new environmentally friendly facility was constructed in 2012 and equipped with lower emission waste oil burning furnaces. Daves Junkyard is an EPA approved recycling facility. We will pay you for your unwanted junk vehicles & metal goods.
If you've got an old vehicle and its time to go - give us a call. It doesn't matter if your car is worn out, smashed up, or just not needed - we offer some of the most competitive rates in southern Maine. We do offer towing for the ones that can't make it us.
The price you will receive for your vehicle is determined by several factors, mainly the weight of the vehicle, whether it is a complete vehicle, if you can drive it to us over the scale, or if we have to send out a tow truck to pick it up. We'll pay the most for a complete vehicle driven to our scale. We a set dollar amount per short ton (2000lbs) of weight. So if your vehicle weighs 3,300lbs - you will receive a check for 1.65 X current market price.
A complete vehicle is a vehicle that has no missing parts, generally one that is still running and driving down the road. It must have 4 wheels, a battery, and a catalytic converter to get complete pricing. If it is missing wheels, a battery, or the converter it will get an incomplete vehicle price.
If your vehicle is still on the road and able to make it to us come on down, the price is right! We're located at 13 Allen Range Rd. Freeport, Maine. We're located on the left side of the road you can't miss us! The entrance to scale is located just past the Main building on the right side of the parking lot. Go ahead and drive up to the stop sign, and if no one is on the scale proceed to the middle of the scale. Place the vehicle in park and step into the scale house with your information and the title. Someone will get a weight slip on the vehicle and prompt you on where to park your vehicle. Make sure you remove all your belongings before you bring it on to get weighed.
There are a lot of factors that could go into that - Mainly the fact that the price of scrap metal fluctuates with the global economy. The price of metals rose sharply in the late 2000's and has been on a steady decent since October of 2014. How long ago did you junk your vehicle? Did your old vehicle weigh the same as your current one? Was your last vehicle a complete vehicle? These are all factors in the difference in price you are receiving. The current market of 2015 is down %75 of what it once was. Check around though you'll find we're still paying more than our competitors.
We pay for all ferrous and non-ferrous metals. If its made of metal we will pay you for it. Maybe its time to do some fall or spring cleaning, or you need to tidy up the shop. Why pay someone else to get rid of it when we'll pay you! There's nothing more rewarding than cleaning up & getting some extra fun money for it. From lawn chairs to copper piping to full sized bulldozers. Nothing to big or small, if its made of metal we'll pay you for it.
Large volumes & companies are always welcome, just show up or contact David to schedule an appointment. No account necessary to recycle with us and no amount to big or too small.
Its really simple actually, the hardest part is hauling them to us. After a few trips you'll find that its rather addicting and very rewarding. If you need help to identify & separate your metals just ask one of our staff. Of course you don't have to sort your metals if you don't to - we do offer mixed load pricing.
We do pick up metals at residential or commercial locations that yield 10+ tons. Please talk to David for details. For auto shops and manufacturing plants we do not currently have scrap routes but can refer you to a local independent.
We buy all ferrous & non ferrous metals, including old/unwanted heavy machinery, industrial metal byproducts, metal construction debris, bridge beams, culverts, wiring, lead weights, catalytic converters...
Anyone who has had a antique project car knows the struggle of finding parts that may no longer be available after-market or NOS. Most of our cars are pre-80's Americana. Dave himself has always been a bow-tie man and subsequently we have quite a few of them.
Dave has been wheeling and dealing antique cars since before cable television made it a popular thing to do. In the early 2000's he was driving his 18 wheeler and car carrier coast to coast to pick up old relics that needed love. Dave's sister company, D.A.B. Used Auto Sales Inc. specializes in classic & antique automobile sales. Many of the cars he picked up along his voyages have gone through the restoration shop and into the hands of family, friends & loyal customers. Lots of the cars that are in our junkyard were parts cars for previous projects. Keeping around this old junk has introduced us to many new friends, and helped people meet their own goals with their projects. We source our classics from all over the lower 48. Some people don't realize this when they stumble upon rust free quarters. The native Maine car tends to be a little salty and our cars leave them flabbergasted. Some of it is actually pretty expensive junk that has traveled thousands of miles to our yard. Relics do come over the scale from time to time and Dave sets them aside. Dave just can't see crushing a classic with good parts. He often brings a a couple with him to the Carlisle PA for the spring & fall swap meets.
