Cocolamus Creek Disposal Service began with the Recycling Center which was started by Dutch and Doug Elsasser in 1993.In looking for a way to grow the business, the logical step was made from recycling to waste removal in 1995 when Cocolamus Creek Disposal bid for the Mifflintown and Mifflin Borough Refuse contracts. Although we had no equipment at the time, we were awarded the bids for both boroughs. Our first piece of hauling equipment was a 1978 Mack Refuse truck with no heater. Every Wednesday morning Donald, Doug and their one employee, Linda Graybill, got up at 3:00 A.M. to take care of the Borough’s garbage.From there, Cocolamus Creek Disposal advertised and walked door to door with flyers to grow the business. Serving Juniata and Perry Counties, the business began to grow, not only with residential customers but with commercial customers as well.

We expanded our recycling services by opening a self service drop off center in Mifflintown in 2008 and by providing the first pick up recycling service in Juniata County in 2009.The CCD family is welcoming new commercial, residential and industrial customers. Cocolamus Creek Disposal Service is the only family owned and locally operated waste management company in Juniata County. Headquartered in McAlisterville, PA, we serve approximately 12,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Juniata, Mifflin, Snyder, Union, and Perry counties.Over a decade later, we are still family owned and operated. We now service 5 counties (Juniata, Perry, Mifflin, Snyder, and Union) with both residential and commercial accounts and have the only on site Recycling Center in Juniata County.

Recycling Services

Recycling services are provided for the following items at our drop off locations in Mifflintown, McAlisterville or in Perry and Juniata Counties with our Recycle Buy a Bag. The Mifflintown Recycling Center is now open Wednesday from 12:00pm - 6:00pm and Saturdays from 8:am - 12:00 noon. Only the Recycling Buy a Bags may be dropped off after hours at both locations.

Attention Recycling Customers: 

Effective October 1, 2009 there will be a charge for all recycling. The cost is $5.00 per vehicle or $2.75/each for recycling buy a bags. Only recycling buy a bags may be dropped off after hours. For more information visit or call our office.

Recycle Buy a Bag

• Yellow route picks up on Monday, Pink route picks up on Tuesday, and Blue route picks up on Wednesday, including Newport Borough.

• Blue route picks up on Tuesday, Yellow route picks up on Wednesday, and Green route picks up on Thursday.
