CEAR is a leading provider of electronic recycling services (e-waste). We have been proudly servicing California since 2000, processing and recycling over 2 million lbs of electronic waste every month and diverting over 25 million lbs from California landfills each year.We recycle for the public, corporations, non-profits, small businesses, schools, hospitals, government and anyone in the community who has e-waste such as computer equipment, monitors, televisions, and any other electronic equipment that could be hazardous to the environment. Our business began with one man’s vision for environmental sustainability and electronic asset recovery. With the inception of California’s Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 and the global need for renewable resources, CEAR has transformed from a small operation to a leader in the recycling industry.
We are ISO 14001 environmentally certified and are also a proud member of the Basel Action Network’s (BAN’s) globally responsible e-waste recyclers. BAN is a world organization focused on turning back the toxic tide by confronting the devastating impacts of unbridled toxic wastes, products, and technologies. In similar fashion, CEAR maintains an unparalleled commitment to the environment. From our facility’s energy consumption and our processing techniques to the products we purchase for our office, we are committed to practicing environmentally sound methods. Our employees and customers make CEAR a leader in the industry and enrich our commitment to our environment and social responsibility.CEAR is a technological leader in the electronic waste industry and has been proudly providing service since the year 2000. Our client list includes major corporations, government agencies, small businesses, and civic organizations. Our business began with a vision for environmental sustainability and electronic asset recovery.
Our e-waste processing plant encompasses a clean system and an energy-efficient operation that continually challenges itself to go greener. Our process uses centrifugal force technology to accelerate and separate material instead of traditional knife-cutting methods. In CEAR’s cyclone-type chamber, the physical forces of impact produce quick material separation by breaking them into their composite parts, simultaneously avoiding the escape of hazardous substances. This collision also results in a cleaner, top-quality output, 85% of which is good enough to return to the marketplace as-is.But not only is the process clean, it’s also the fastest and most efficient method of e-cycling available today. In contrast, our process uses only use one third of the energy compared to regular knife-shredders of similar capacity, churning out an astounding 3 to 5 tons of e-waste each hour!
Our commitment is unparalleled in the e-recycling industry. We share a global concern of environmental issues such as climate change, air quality, water pollution and resource depletion. These issues are precisely the reasons we have employed the most advanced recycling technology available in North America. Our ‘Big Green Machine’ is the front runner for the most environmentally sustainable recycling technology, using less energy and providing a cleaner air flow during the recycling process. Our e-cage design is another method we use to promote environmental sustainability. The re-usable metal pallet system we designed specifically to house incoming e-waste allows for a significant reduction in the need for shrink wrap and wooden pallets which ultimately contributes less non recyclable waste into our environment. Our goal is for zero landfill and our commitment is to solve our problems locally and act responsibly for global resource protection.
We are a proud member of the widely recognizable environmental group, the Basel Action Network’s responsible e-recycling network, which has exposed many fraudulent e-waste recycling firms who simply ship the units they collect overseas. These exposes have been seen on shows such as 60 minutes and PBS’s Frontline series. Each and every unit that is collected at CEAR is demanufactured at our local facility and then the recovered plastics, glass & metals are sent to downstream, approved recycling operations. Overseas dumping is never an option. We have also adopted a green policy by purchasing recycled goods for our daily operations including re-used paper, packaging, wood and cardboard materials. In an effort to spread our environmental commitment, we actively support product stewardship. This concept addresses the need for making the entire product system environmentally sustainable, by sharing the responsibility among manufacturers, retailers, users and disposers for the entire product lifecycle.
