Charlie Mancuso began Brazos Valley Recycling (BVR) and The Big Dumpster in 2005. Charlie grew up in Bryan and worked in the rental business for his father, Cullen Mancuso. Charlie’s dad taught him the importance of delivering an excellent service for a fair price and always valuing your customers and employees. Charlie followed in his father’s footsteps and opened several rental businesses including We Rent It and BCS Stop & Go Potties. Through these businesses Charlie saw an opportunity to rent dumpsters and roll off containers for construction companies, and this eventually evolved into The Big Dumpster which became his full time focus after selling We Rent It in 2009.The Big Dumpster gave Charlie the opportunity to analyze the content of the dumpsters and roll off containers he rented. He soon realized that the majority of the materials they contained were: concrete, wood, metal, brick/block, cardboard, plastic, and other recyclable items. Instead of paying to dispose of these materials in the landfill, he started developing options to somehow reuse or recycle the materials. Eventually, these ideas led to the formation of Brazos Valley Recycling (BVR), a state-certified recycling and composting facility. BVR has two key components to the business: the original The Big Dumpster business, which supplies the actual roll off containers, dumpsters, totes, recycling bins and Brazos Valley Recycling – the recycling facility itself.
BVR’s goal is to provide waste diversion services that benefit customers and positively impact our environment.
