Hazardous and Industrial Waste Recycling

We are certified, licensed and insured and we know what we are doing when it comes to dealing with your industrial non-hazardous and hazardous wastes. All materials leave your premises with a transfer of liability through a government regulated load manifest. This is very important so that you are protected from fines or any future liabilities arising from improper disposal that may occur with non-licensed carriers or inexperienced handling of your products.

Disposal of most regulated hazardous and non-regulated non-hazardous industrial waste must be done responsibly to protect both people and the environment. Municipalities and the Ministry of Environment have strict rules in place on disposal of chemicals and other materials; even non-regulated and non-harmful materials such as coconut water (from the food industry) can be harmful if poured down the drain in concentration.

Metal Recycling

Blue Planet pick-up service can include pick-up of all metal waste from your facility including steel, aluminum, brass, copper or mixed metal materials. Rebates are offered on higher value and higher volume amounts.

Plastic Film Recycling

We offer a loose plastic film recycling pickup service. For larger volume generators we can install a baler and buy baled film from your facility or distribution network. We can service nationwide programs or individual stores in our service areas.

Recycling Plastic Film (LDPE resin) is a multi-step process that requires very specialized equipment. Essentially, a finished end product – like plastic pallet wrap – is chopped, washed, melted and extruded into plastic pellets. These plastic pellets are then sold to a plastic reprocessor, who will use them in a specific manufacturing process (such as blow molding in the case of plastic bottles or extrusion in the case of plastic lumber) to create a “new” or “recycled” plastic product.

The first step of the plastic film recycling process is inspection, which takes place at Blue Planet Recycling. This process is designed to weed out any foreign materials, contaminants or other plastics. Because plastics have different properties and characteristics, most plastics recycling involves the separation of different plastics by resin type. The only noteworthy exception to this is plastic lumber, which can use different types of plastics.

Organics Recycling

Blue Planet Organics Recycling is about converting food waste into valuable commodities, including soils, proteins, oils and other beneficial materials for further downstream use. Since the landfill bans went into effect, we have been working hard to seek out markets and develop technologies that turn organic waste into favourable value.
