Blacky's Auto Recycling is the largest recycling yard on Vancouver Island. The yard, parts storage and offices encompass 8 acres of land. Vehicles are aligned throughout the property for easy removal and preservation of their parts. Vehicles, cars and trucks, are bought weekly to maintain inventory in order to keep up with the demand for quality used parts. In fact over 10,000 vehicles have passed through the gates at Blacky's. Considering that best estimates are that there are approximately 10,000 moving parts on the average vehicle, a lot of parts have come and gone through Blacky's recycling yard.
Blacky's was founded in 1960 by John Blackham senior. After serving his country overseas, his love of cars made working on cars something that came naturally. In true entrepreneurial spirit, John Sr created Blacky's to supply the growing need for car parts. John's love of cars and business has been passed down in true family tradition to John Blackham Jr. John worked in the yard as a young boy and eventually took over the business in 1975. To this day the spirit of entrepreneurship, dedication, hard work and above all else, customer service is the driving force at Blacky's. With over 132 years of combined expertise and dedication, John and his team of experts carry on the tradition of customer first service that was and is the foundation of Blacky's.
