Berger Sanitation Inc., was formed by Robert J. Berger, Jr. in 1971. Robert J. Berger III joined the company in 1979 and has been president of the company since1998. Berger Sanitation, Inc. continues to be family owned and operated with 4 Berger family members working for the company.

Located in East Allen Township Pennsylvania, Berger Sanitation Inc, has 20 employees and operates 15 trucks. Berger Sanitation, Inc. provides Residential waste services to customers in the townships of East Allen, Upper Nazereth, North Whitehall, Washington, Lynn, Lowhill and Weisenberg, Lehigh, Moore & Bushkill. Berger Sanitation, Inc. also provides Commercial and Industrial waste removal services to customers in Northampton, Lehigh, Berks, Bucks, Carbon and Monroe Counties. Recycling services are offered to both Comercial and Residential customers as well.

Single Stream Recycling

Single stream recycling means you no longer will be separating your recyclables. Although you must still bag your paper items (such as junk mail, newspapers, magazines, telephone books and chipboard, which includes empty cake boxes, cracker boxes, cereal boxes, snack boxes, and shoe boxes), you can commingle all recycling in one container. There will be no limit to the amount of recyclables you can set out for disposal. If more than one container is needed, you may use a 30 gallon plastic container clearly labeled “Recycling”. Please see the list below for recyclable items.

NON RECYCLABLE MATERIALS

• Glass: Broken glass, light bulbs, Ceramic dishes, Pyrex, china, mirrors, windows, cookware, drinking glasses and flower pots.
• Paper: Waxed milk/juice cartons, facial tissue, napkins, paper plates/cups, heat resistant ovenware and styrofoam products.
• Cans: No Liquid paints or chemicals.
• Plastic: Lids, plastic bags/wrap and all other items not bearing the numbers 1 or 2 or marked PET, PETE or HDPE. Examples include coffee cups, meat trays, lids or caps and egg cartons.
• Cardboard: No food contaminated cardboard.
• Metal: Coat hangers, cookware/bakeware, drink mix containers, pipes and wire.

Residential

WASTE COLLECTION BERGER SANITATION, INC. provides residential services to certain areas of Northampton and Lehigh Counties. We are currently servicing customers in the townships of North Whitehall, Washington, Lynn, Weisenberg, Lowhill, East Allen, Upper & Lower Nazareth, Lehigh, Moore & Bushkill. We have recently switched to an automated system for collecting trash. Our customers are supplied with a 96 gallon trash toter that is emptied by one of our modern automated vehicles. This allows for a more efficient and cleaner way of picking up trash.

RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING
Residential customers can take advantage of our curbside single-stream recycling. Single stream recycling means you no longer need to separate your recyclables. Paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, and aluminum all go into the same container! Customers use township issued recycling bins or 30 gallon plastic containers clearly labeled “Recycling” which are emptied by Berger Sanitation, Inc every other week.

Commercial

BERGER SANITATION, INC. provides commercial waste removal and recycling to Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon Counties. Commercial accounts include apartment buildings, stores, office buildings and general businesses. The two types of commercial services that we offer are FRONT LOAD and REAR LOAD containers. These two applications are very different. Front load containers are picked up by a truck that lifts the container over the top of the truck to dump the container. Rear load containers are picked up by a truck that dumps the container into the back of the truck. Most commercial accounts are done with a front loader truck. However, not everyone’s location allows for the front load application and in those cases rear load containers are used instead. Front load containers are also available for temporary use and are done with our rotator truck.
