We began as a traditional metals salvage operation, which we remain to this day. We buy old appliances, cars, aluminum cans, farm equipment, copper and insulated copper wire, and all sorts of other metal items. We also provide on-site containers for industry where scrap metal is routinely generated, and for demolition sites and other scrap metal generating activities.Since the mid 1990’s, we have also become experts in the field of demilitarization. Over the years we have had extensive experience in demilitarization and marketing of all kinds of military scrap.
In the last twenty years BRI has successfully processed (demilitarized) over 200,000 tons of military materials without incident.At its home location adjacent to NAVSURFWARCENDIV-CRANE (Crane military base), in Bedford, Indiana, the company operates machinery and equipment ranging from a heavy torching operation and large mobile shears on excavators, to a 1200-hp heavy metal shredder, which is capable of handling twenty tons of scrap material per hour. BRI also possesses the required mobile equipment and personnel necessary to service remote field sites.
A major concentration of BRI has been the demilitarization of sensitive military equipment and ordnance. Under surveillance of military personnel, BRI has demilitarized and recycled various aircraft, including the F-4B Phantom, the AV-8B Harrier, the B-2 Spirit (stealth bomber), various helicopters, and other miscellaneous aircraft and parts. BRI has also demilitarized over 1600 combat tanks, including various levels of the M48 and M60A3 Series tanks.In addition, BRI has extensive experience and specialized machinery & tooling, for processing 3X projectiles into scrap. We have processed well over 400,000 projectiles ranging in size from 76mm up to 2700 lb16-inch/50-cal naval projectiles. All without incident.BRI has also processed MPPEH material and range scrap.
