Battery Tree was incorporated in 2004 and is owned and operated by Brent Rushing and his wife Julie. Brent is a graduate of Appalachian State University (BS Marketing) and North Carolina Agricultural & Technological State University (MS Industrial Engineering) and has been in the battery business for twenty years. Brent started his career with Douglas Battery Manufacturing Company and worked his way to National Account Manager. Battery Tree has grown to become one of the largest battery distributors in North Carolina. Brent is a member and President of the Battery Electrical Specialist Association.
It was Brent's dream to start the business as a wholesale company and one day open a retail store while passing along some of the wholesale savings. In 2010, the retail location on Shields Road in Kernersville became a reality. In 2012, Brent brought on his long time high school friend, Monica Murphy, to help grow this facet of the business. With a walk-in retail location, the opportunity to service a whole new avenue of customers is available. Along with the public, many businesses who have had to purchase batteries through a mainstream retailer can now meet those needs while saving money. The Battery Tree business continues to grow and together they are focusing on building customer relationships with the many smaller municipalities and other businesses that the Kernersville community and surrounding areas have to offer.
