In our estimation, from the time that an automobile is first shredded, to the time a new aluminum casting is shipped, an average of over 42 days have elapsed.In our system, automobile shredder residue (zorba) is processed, dried, melted, alloyed to customer specification, and delivered to diecasters throughout the Midwest in just a matter of days.
With the contributions of our raw material and end-use market partners and an efficient internal operational process, Audubon Metals LLC has accelerated the recycling process of automobile shredder residue into new secondary aluminum alloy castings.

Audubon Metals LLC purchases as it's main feed stock, "automotive shredder residue" from automotive shredders throughout North America for processing through its heavy media separation system. Additional scrap items as defined by ISRI specifications include aluminum turnings, cast, sheet, mixed clip and RSI, are just a few of the many secondary grades of scrap that are also purchased.
Audubon Metals LLC began operations in December 1996 with a single reverbatory furnace. In 1998, a second furnace was added to double our capacity. A third furnace was added in 2003 to assure consistent production capabilities to our customers.
Today Audubon Metals LLC produces specification aluminum alloys such A380, 383, 384, and 390 in either molten, ingot or sow forms. A state-of-the-art warehouse system assures our customers the availability of just-in-time delivery of Audubon Metals high quality specification aluminum alloys.
Certification to the ISO 9001:2008, Quality Standard, further assures our customers that Audubon Metals is committed to producing specification aluminum alloys that consistantly meet or exceed their expectations and requirements.
