About Yard

ATEC Recycling, Inc. owns and occupies a 40,000 sq. ft. headquarters and processing facility that houses our management team, IT asset management, processing operations and material storage. This location is in close proximity to the heartland's interstate system's intersection of I35 and I80 and other major thorough fares. This facility receives incoming equipment, and prepare the materials for further processing at our facility. Our facility is permitted with the IA-DNR as a Computer Monitor and Television (CRT Glass) handler and recycler and we are an "End of Life" Computer and Electronics Recycler. We have been servicing the computer and electronics recycling needs of businesses, healthcare institutions, municipalities, residents, and educational institutions throughout Iowa and the all of the Midwest since 2010. Our consistent and continual growth over the past four years is a direct representation of our ability to retain current customers and continue to develop new business relationships that last far beyond new customerís short term electronics recycling requirements.

The responsible choice in electronics recycling and asset management space, ATEC Recycling, Inc. has developed several specialized solutions for various material types and markets across the United States.

ATEC Recycling, Inc. specializes in end-of-life electronics recycling, the process by which obsolete electronic devices are dismantled and separated into clean, reusable commodities. ATEC Recycling, Inc is able to efficiently and effectively process large volumes of end-of-life electronics (also known as e-waste). Our electronics recycling faciltiy is designed to maximize materials recovery and eliminate harmful waste to land fill. ATEC Recycling, Inc. provides downstream electronics recycling services to a variety of markets, including electronics recyclers and collectors, manufacturers, large businesses, Federal-State-County-Local Government and the private sector."End of Life Electronics" can be old, obsolete, or damaged. In many cases, this material retains little to no resale value. ATEC Recycling, Inc. safely disassemebles these products for commodities. ATEC Recycling, Inc. processes ensure that your end-of-life electronics are refined into reusable commodities instead of being dumped in a landfill.

E-Waste Collection

In addition to serving as a downstream recycler for e-waste, ATEC Recycling, Inc. provides support to e-waste collectors and handlers. In efforts to support you the customer, we provide a point of contact for your company or organization for seamless logistics of pick up and delivery of e-waste.  In addition we provide validated logs specific to the collection of e-waste along with certification need for State recycling programs. ATEC Recycling, Inc.  CRT Recycling Process:

  • The first stage in ATEC Recycling, Inc. CRT recycling process is to remove the cathode ray tube from its enclosure whether it be a computer monitor or Television.  The glass tubes need to be in tact when our staff begins the process of separation, so monitors and televisions must be taken apart manually. Once the CRT has been removed, the remaining components enter the electronics recycling process where they are separated into various commodity types including plastic, copper, circuit board, and steel. These are sold into secondary markets to be remanufactured into new products, and the cathode ray tube moves on to be further refined into clean glass.
  • The second stage in the CRT recycling process separates the lead-bearing glass (known as the funnel) from the non-leaded glass (known as the panel). This CRT glass separation process is efficient and allows ATEC Electronics Recycling, LLC. to isolate the glass types. The panel glass, and can be recycled and then  reused for a number of applications. The leaded funnel glass proceeds to the third stage where the lead is removed.
  • The final stage is our proprietary process for removing lead from the glass. Until now, conventional CRT glass lead removal available to electronics recyclers achieved the goal of removing lead, however the glass is a waste by-product that goes for landfill. This method is not truly recycling because the lead laden glass slag that is land-filled does not go on to serve another purpose or make another product. Additionally, the generator of this end of life CRT is not relieved of its responsibility for this waste because there is still potential for landfill contamination. Once the glass and the lead have been separated, the lead will be reused for industrial purposes. The processed glass is used for a multitude of products and purposes.
