The site of the APS Recycling yard has been an industrial center for well over 100 years. In 1892 the Wilkes Barre and Eastern Railroad was formed; and established this site as it’s rail yard and locomotive workshops. By 1937, changing business conditions led to the decline of the WB&E and the railroad filed for bankruptcy but continued to run sporadically until it was eventually abandoned in 1939.In 1939, the Katz family purchased the property and an active recycling center was run under the name D. Katz and Sons or as it was simply known locally, ‘The Katz Scrap Yard’. In 2001, the yard was sold to the Smith family and operated under the name EDI Recycling and Salvage until it was forclosed on by Unity Bank of Clinton, New Jersey and put up for Sherriff's sale in June of 2003. It was eventually bought by another family and re-opened as APS Recycling in 2004. As a small local business APS strides to keep in touch with the community. The APS location has been associated with the people of Stroudsburg for well over 100 years. Back then our location used to be railroad, absolutely dependent on other people's wants and needs to stay open. Things haven't changed much since then. Now, our location is a steadily growing metal recycling yard, which is still just as dependent on the community and their help as it was 100 years ago.
Buying Aluminum Cans and all types of Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Cast Iron, Electric Motors, Steel, Stainless Steel, Lead, Radiators, Heat Exchangers, Transmissions, Engines, used Auto/truck batteries, aluminum car and truck wheels, used metal auto parts for scrap (starters, alternators, brake drums and rotors, exhaust parts, engine parts, suspension parts, and metal body parts), used wiring, scrap vehicles and … zinc.APS Recycling is no longer accepting miscellaneous electronics and CRT Monitors. We're still trying to work out how we can begin to pay for computers, flat screen monitors, and circuit boards.
Despite the inherent redundancy of this statement, It seems incumbent upon me to once again and here again point out that we are closed. Other then some minor maintenance, security, and cleanup work which occasionally happens, no one works at the yard, the yard is closed, we are not accepting any material, and despite the close personal relationships we have with many of our customers; we can't accept your materials at the present time.
we are buying scrap vehicles! Have an old car that’s been sitting around your property for too long? Bring it down and we’ll be happy to pay you for it. Any year, make, model, or condition we are willing to accept! Unfortunately, we do not possess the eqiupment to pick up vehicles on our own.
