Afterlife Computers, founded in 2010, is one of the fastest growing and most competitive solution for electronic waste in Montreal and surrounding areas. Afterlife Computers is tailored for corporations, educational institutions, and government agencies. We offer free pick-ups for businesses and organizations that have electronic recyclables. We also can provide you with a certificate indicating that the materials were recycled.Electronic waste (e-waste) is a serious and growing problem in the world and is associated with health risks. Our mission and dedication is to significantly reduce the amount of e-waste that finds its way to landfills.
The amount of e-waste has become a problem, and will continue to be a problem unless there are substantial changes in our habits regarding the disposal of this material. E-waste is a leading cause of our waste given that much of our lives and products revolve around computers and other electronic products. The accumulation of these products in landfills is toxic for our earth. More than 140,000 tons of e-waste in Canada finds their way into landfills each year. This crisis is completely unnecessary and with a little attention is reversible.
Scheduling a pick-up is simple. All we need from you is an approximation of the amount of e-waste there is to be picked-up. It is important that we have this information so that we can bring an appropriately sized truck and have the right number of workers to promptly finish the job. If possible, a list of items to be picked up prior to the pick-up date it is always appreciated. We usually require 24-48 hours of notice from the date that you would like your materials to be picked-up. A lot of our clients are in high rise buildings. Because getting the materials to the docking station can be difficult, we do not require our clients to do this. More specifically, even if your items are on the 20th floor, we will come up to get the equipment. It is our job to remove all headaches and hurdles so that you can return to your job as quickly as possible and not lose precious time.We bring all e-waste to our facility where it is first sorted into either recycled materials or refurbished equipment. Old and obsolete items are dismantled and sorted into several categories: scrap metal, plastic, glass, circuit boards, power supplies, hard drives, processors, ram, etc. Each category has its own destination to be recycled and refined. Newer and usable products are refurbished, and some are donated to charities and non-profit organizations (if you are a charity or non-profit please check out our ‘Charities’ page). All information on hard drives is completely destroyed.
